Highflying Chema Volleyball Club skipper Levis Ouma has an upbeat mood ahead of the team’s decisive final against the General Service Unit this Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Eldoret Polytechnic Grounds.

Speaking after punching their ticket to the final, Ouma revelled in the team’s display, adding that the team will be eager to continue their wild card role and upset GSU in the finals.

“I am happy with the team. Many expected that we would perform better despite our status as newcomers. We are here to give a good performance, and we look to give an equally good show in the finals against GSU,” he said, as quoted by the club’s media site.

On his part, coach Jeremiah Mukopi hailed the competition levels in the games as he tipped his charges to cope with the demands of the games.

The tests have been good; our players have given their all. After the first game, we knew the direction we were taking. We expect the player to get a rest and see how the finals pan out,” the coach stated.

The Kenya Volleyball Federation top-flight debutants have been in splendid form, winning two of their group D matches against Desert Warriors and the Kenya Administration Police Unit (KAPU).

The Juja-based club edged Warriors in three straight sets of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-17 before dispatching KAPU 3-1 to advance to the knockout stages.

Jeremiah Mukopi’s charges extended the cruise in the elimination phase with a 3-1 win over Equity Bank on Saturday.

Defending champions

“We defeated the defending champions of the 2024 Kipchumba Karori International Tournament, Equity Bank, with a 3–1 victory,” the club stated after its semifinal victory.

Women’s final

In the semis, Chema stunned Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) to reach the finals of the second edition of the tournament.

In the women’s category, Kenya Pipeline and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) will battle it out in the final.

Oilers, under coach Geoffrey Omondi, edged Kenya Prisons in three straight sets of 26-24, 34-32, and 25-17 to advance.

Meanwhile, DCI continued their push and dominance in the women’s category by silencing KCB to set up a grandstand repeat of the KVF National League season 2024/25 finals.

The finalists will battle it out for the coveted Ksh1 million winning prize.
