Ndanai Secondary to host girls’ sporting bonanza ahead of Term Two games

Ndanai Girls Secondary School in Bomet County will this weekend host the much-anticipated third edition of the Annual Girls’ Tournament, ahead of next month’s official start of the Secondary School Term Two Games, according to tournament coordinator Lucas Kirui.
The two-day event, taking place at the school grounds, will feature an exciting mix of football, volleyball, netball, and indoor games such as table tennis and badminton.
The competition is designed to give young players a chance to showcase their skills and compete in a variety of sports, fostering healthy competition and camaraderie among local schools.
“All teams are expected to report by 9am on Saturday to allow for timely pooling and fixture planning,” said Kirui, noting the importance of a smooth and well-organized event.
Each team will pay a registration fee of Sh2,000 per discipline and is expected to bring along playable balls and nets for their respective sports.
“The preliminaries and quarterfinals will be played on Saturday, with the semi-finals, finals, and the awarding ceremony scheduled for Sunday,” he added.
Kirui emphasized that all matches will adhere to FIFA and FIVB rules, ensuring that the competition maintains high standards of fairness, professionalism, and sportsmanship.
A key feature of the tournament is the free coaching and referee clinic that will be held before the matches. This initiative aims to build capacity and empower local coaches and aspiring referees to support the development of sports in the community.
“This competition comes at a strategic time and will assist school teams in their preparedness for the Term Two Games by giving them a chance to gauge their performance, fine-tune their squads, and identify areas that need improvement,” Kirui explained.
“More than just a tournament, this is a platform to empower our girls, nurture their talents, and grow the culture of competitive school sports,” he concluded.
