Moses Shumah steps up to help Dynamos secure CAF CL progress

Harambee Stars pair of Emmanuel Osoro and Moses Shumah of Power Dynamos have progressed to the final preliminary round of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after a thrilling two-legged tie against ASEC Mimosas, which ended 1-1 on aggregate.

The Zambian reigning champions secured passage despite their hosts, ASEC Mimosas, winning the return leg 1-0 on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

In the first leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Power Dynamos won 1-0, thanks to Innocent Kashita’s first-half goal.

Penalty shoot-out win

With the aggregate score balanced at 1-1, the intense tie was decided by the lottery of penalties, where they prevailed on a 5-4.

During the nail-biting penalty shootout, Moses Shumah, who joined the club at the start of the season from Kakamega Homeboyz, scored the opening penalty en route to the win.

Titus Chansa, Kondwani Chiboni, Samuel Ayodeji Bamidele, and Chifundo Mphasi bagged the other penalties.

Power Dynamos will first travel to Vipers FC’s turf during the weekend of 17 to 19 October, 2025, before hosting the second preliminary return leg a week later.

The Aba Red will next face Uganda’s side Vipers as they seek to continue their continental run.

Power will first travel to Vipers FC’s turf on October 17, 2025, before hosting the second preliminary return leg a week later.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Police and Nairobi United, Kenya’s representatives in the continental front, progressed to the final stages of the preliminary rounds.

The reigning FKF PL champions advance to the CAF Champions League second round on the away goals rule.

The winners from the final rounds of the preliminary rounds will qualify for the group stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
