Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League outfit AFC Leopards has been handed a major injury setback with striker Sydney Lokale ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.

According to a statement from the club on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Lokale will be out for four months after suffering a tear in his meniscus.

“Sydney Lokale suffered a torn posterior horn lateral meniscus – a non-contact injury. He underwent surgery on the articular cartilage of his left knee, and he will be out for 4 months. We wish Sydney a quick recovery,” an update from the club read.

On a positive note, the club has revealed an update on Fredrick Alushula, who is set to undergo a fitness assessment test.

The former Kariobangi Sharks’ fullback, who joined Ingwe in the middle of the campaign, has been out for one and a half months with a knee problem.

“Fredrick Alushula had a grade II tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus on his left knee. He’s been out for 6 weeks and will be going for review,” part of the statement read.

The development comes as Ingwe seeks to bounce back from the defeat suffered in their last league assignment.

Ingwe slumped to a 1-0 defeat in Week 27 games against Posta Rangers, and Fred Ambani’s charges will be out to return to winning ways when they face Ulinzi Stars this Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

A victory for the seventh-placed team will cement their status behind rivals Kakamega Homeboyz.

The clash, scheduled for 4:00 pm, will be staged at the Dandora Stadium.

Meanwhile, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League defending champions, Gor Mahia, will also be in action in a rescheduled tie on Thursday, April 23, 2025.

Fresh from a frustrating draw against Sofapaka that saw the side pegged from claiming the league’s summit, Sinisa Mihic’s charges will be back in Dandora to face off against FC Talanta.

The tie will also kick off at 4:00 pm.
