Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club has inched closer to clinching the 2025 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Women’s League championship following a 3-0 win over rivals Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) this Friday, June 6, 2025, in Nairobi.

The Oilers put up a commanding performance at the Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium to clinch the first meeting in three straight sets.

Skippered by Glady Ekaru, Pipeline were first off the blocks to claim the first set on a 25–19 score line.

A stunned DCI mounted an immense fightback in the following set, but their resilience ultimately ran short in a 25–20 defeat.

The Oilers, buoyed by the back-to-back wins, sealed Game 1 with a convincing 25-14 score.

The win places Geoffrey Omondi’s coached side in pole position for the honours, with a win away from bagging the women’s title.

The two sides will face off in Game 2 on Saturday, June 7, 2025, with a win ensuring the Oilers’ coronation as the new champions.

The clash will kick off at 2 pm.

Captain’s remarks

Ereng took to her social media to hail the team’s display and rallied them to complete the conquest on Saturday.

“As captain, I’m immensely proud of our team’s performance today. Our unity and determination were evident on the court, and we’re focused on maintaining this momentum. Let’s bring the title home,” her statement read.

Meanwhile, defending champions KCB will be out to make amends when they face Kenya Prison in the third-place playoffs on Saturday at the same venue.

The clash slated for 10 am will see Japheth Munala’s Lionesses team aim to roar back after failing to secure a place in the ongoing finals.

The reigning champions failed to lay claim to their title defence after going down 2-0 in a best-of-three clash in the semifinals against Kenya Pipeline.

Prisons were stunned 3-2 in an enthralling five-set thriller by DCI, the performance assuring the investigative agency their place in the final at the expense of their nemesis.

“Tomorrow, June 7th, brace yourselves for a volleyball showdown like no other as our Lionesses roar into Kasarani to battle the ever-formidable Kenya Prisons in the KVF Women’s League 3rd Place Playoffs! This is more than a game, it’s grit, glory, and game faces all the way!” a rallying call from the club read.
