Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has told Erik ten Hag to seize the opportunity and deliver after the Manchester United owner decided the Dutchman would stay at the club.

INEOS, the firm in charge of football operations at Old Trafford, undertook a review of Ten Hag’s performance, and after a two-week process, it decided that the Dutch tactician should stay.

Khalwale, a vocal soccer lover, has now advised the former Ajax manager to take advantage now after avoiding the sack.

“Congratulations, INEOS, for making this very important call. It’s now time for ETH to take full advantage of this vote of confidence,” Khalwale said in a statement on X.

After a two-week-long review, Ten Hag and the club are said to be all aligned, and the manager will stay in charge as negotiations for a new contract commence.

Ten Hag’s current deal runs until the end of next season, and the Old Trafford outfit has the option of extending it by a further 12 months.

The Red Devils had a disappointing Premier League season in the last campaign, finishing eighth. However, the season ended in a good way after surprisingly beating Manchester City – the Premier League champions – 2-0 to lift the FA Cup. This was Ten Hag’s second trophy in as many years.

Despite operating with a number of injuries to key players, the Red Devils finally grabbed a ticket to the Europa League with a victory against the Citizens in the cup final.

Satisfied United

The club is said to be satisfied with Ten Hag, as it says he deserves a chance to show what more he is capable of within the new sporting structure implemented since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS took charge of football operations.

While the review process was ongoing, a number of managers had been linked with Ten Hag’s position at the Old Trafford.

Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna, and Gareth Southgate were among the options. Tuchel, Southgate, and McKenna were the names that featured prominently during the review before a conclusion to retain Ten Hag was reached.
