Kenya’s Susan Ejore targets Olympic glory in 1500m debut
”It is my dream come true,” says Susan Ejore, as she makes her debut in the 1500m, aiming to reach the finals at the Olympic Games in Paris, France in August.
The US-based Kenyan Ejore stated that her running career has reached its peak with her successful qualification for the Olympics at the national trials, behind world record holder Faith Kipyegon and Nelly Chipchirchir. Ejore expressed her ambition to advance to the finals.
“My target for the Olympics is to progress through the rounds to the semifinals and into the finals,” remarked Ejore, who resides in Arizona, USA.
“I have attempted several times to secure a place on Team Kenya but failed until recently when I finished in third place,” she added.
She continued, “Competing in Kenya is highly competitive, possibly the toughest in the world. When you get an opportunity to represent your country, it is a dream come true.”
The 28-year-old Ejore recounted her past struggles, where poor performances prevented her from wearing the Kenyan colors.
“I tried to qualify for the 2022 World Championships and Commonwealth Games but finished fourth in the 1500m at the trials, narrowly missing out on selection.”
