Fresh off a commanding victory at the opening leg of the 2025 Kenya Rugby Union National Sevens Circuit, the Driftwood 7s held at the Mombasa Sports Club last weekend, KCB Rugby Club has unveiled their travelling squad for the Prinsloo 7s set to take place on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Nakuru Athletic Club.

The Bankers, who put up a dominant performance to clinch the Driftwood 7s title in Mombasa, will be looking to maintain their momentum in the second leg of the circuit. KCB have retained a strong core squad with a blend of experience and rising talent as they aim to tighten their grip at the top of the series standings.

Named squad

The 14-man squad includes:

Vincent Onyala

Elvis Olukusi

Bob Muhati

Tyson Maina

Lionel Ajeleti

Jenkins Kipruto

Emmanuel Opondo

Festus Shiasi

Sikutwa Austin

Wabwire Floyd

Dominic Sande

Samwel Asati

Brian Wahinya

Bramwel Kilwake

The squad features national team stars such as Vincent Onyala, Samwel Asati, and Brian Wahinya, who bring valuable international experience to the side. Their presence will be crucial as KCB targets back-to-back wins in the circuit. By winning the Driftwood 7s, KCB reclaimed the title they last won in 2019, marking a return to the top after narrowly missing out in last year’s edition.

Speaking after the win, KCB head coach Dennis Mwanja, praised his team:

“The boys stuck to the game plan and showed great discipline throughout the tournament. It’s always special to win in Mombasa, and we’re proud to bring the Driftwood title back to KCB.”

At the Prinsloo 7s, hosts Nakuru headline Pool A. They will be joined by Kenya Harlequin, Stallions and MSC Rugby. Pool B features defending Prinsloo champions Strathmore Leos, who will face competition from Menengai Oilers, Daystar Falcons and Zetech Oaks.

KCB Rugby Club headline Pool C, alongside Nondescript, CUEA and Kisumu. The bankers will be looking to maintain their dominant run in the circuit. Pool D has Kabras Sugar RFC drawn with MMUST, Impala RFC and Mwamba RFC.

Meanwhile, Dennis Mwanja expected to emphasise continuity and structure. KCB will be one of the favourites going into the Nakuru leg, where competition from teams like Kabras, Menengai Oilers, and Strathmore Leos is expected to intensify.
