Kataka urges Kenyan footballers to invest wisely for a secure future
Geoffrey Kataka Omusula, a former player for AFC Leopards, Posta Rangers and Wazito FC, has called on Kenyan Premier League players to prioritize making wise investments during their playing careers.
In light of the financial challenges currently afflicting Kenyan football, Kataka’s message is timely and crucial.
Kataka, who also had stints with KRA, Nairobi Stima, and Mahakama, experienced firsthand the uncertainty that can arise in a football career.
In 2016, his time on the field was challenged after he sustained an injury while playing for Posta Rangers.
Faced with the realization that his football career could be in jeopardy, Kataka shifted his focus to entrepreneurship.
He founded Frigeo Fabricators, a fabrication company based in Komarok along Kangundo Road, Nairobi.
His business, which specializes in the production of steel doors, windows, staircases, beds, and other related products, has arguably allowed him to remain financially secure after hanging up his boots.
Reflecting on his journey, Kataka emphasized the importance of planning for the future.
“My advice to active players is to invest wisely while still earning their salaries and getting allowances,” he told People Sport.
