New Tusker striker Erick Kapaito has set a high target of hitting double digits after joining the Football Kenya Federation Premier League giants.

Kapaito is the latest addition to the Brewers’ set-up, and the forward wants to help the club win trophies by scoring the goals needed in the process.

The former Kariobangi Sharks striker, a former Most Valuable Player, and the top scorer in the 2020/21 Premier League season, Kapaito joined Tusker after he had been massively linked with a move to Zambian Super League side Zanaco FC.

“Ladies and gentlemen, help us in welcoming the 2020-21 FKF Premier League Golden Boot and Most Valuable Player, Eric Kapaito, to Tusker FC. Kapaito has signed a one-year contract at Ruaraka,” Tusker stated when they announced the signing of the Harambee Stars forward.

Kapaito’s ambition

At Tusker, Kapaito will have to fight for regular slots in the starting XI with Deogratious Ojok, who extended his contract at Ruraka, James Mwangi, a new signing from Nzoia Sugar, and Ibrahim Joshua, but all in all, he hopes to hit double digits once the new season begins.

“My target is to help the team achieve its targets, and that is to win trophies. I was the MVP and the top scorer before I left, and I want to pick it up from there.

“I want to score double-digit goals this season,” Kapaito said in a statement.

Kapaito’s Ethiopian stint

Kapaito returns to the Premier League after he left Ethiopian Premier League side Arba Minch City FC at the end of last season. He joined this club in 2021, where he put pen to paper on a two-year-old deal.

However, he left the club when it was relegated to the second division and has been without a club since July.

He was a regular starter for Arba Minch City, as he played in 21 games out of 30, but his goal output was not as impressive; he only scored four.

Kapaito, who was a prolific striker during his time with Kariobangi Sharks, will hope that he will rediscover his goalscoring touch with Tusker once the season begins.
