Defending champions Kamusinga Girls will be out to retain their handball crown this afternoon when they face Rift Valley giants St Joseph High School in a much-anticipated Brookside KSSSA Term 1 final meet at the Shimo la Tewa grounds, after both teams stormed past their semi-final opponents in commanding fashion.

Kamusinga girls booked a slot in the finals after securing a 23-14 win against Kadika of the Nyanza Region, while St Joseph easily cruised past a stubborn Dagoretti Mixed with a resounding 32-16 win during a match that attracted a huge crowd.

Lanky forward Sheila Amodigi was the star of the day as she scored 7 goals, while her scoring partners Catherine Auma and Bridgett Barasa netted 6 and 5 goals respectively.

Lavenda Babia also added 3 goals, while individual goals from Miriam and Nicole Ruth ensured the defending champions sailed through to the finals.

Kamusinga’s top scorer Amodigi stated they were elated to have won their semi-final, which has greatly boosted the team’s spirit.
“The great heat in the city has been very challenging, but we have learned to adapt and play under the scorching sun. We remained focused throughout the match, ensuring we thwarted all efforts by our challengers as we tried very hard to score as many goals as possible.

And lastly, I’m glad that my 7 goals played a huge role in ensuring we won the match and booked ourselves a spot in the final. We will go back to the drawing board and strategise on how we are going to emerge victorious and qualify for the East Africa Games,” stated Amodigi after their semi-final clash.
