I am not a magician, Logarusic says amid mounting pressure from fans

Kenya Police head coach Zdravko Logarusic has called for patience from the team’s fans after they failed to beat champions Gor Mahia in an FKF Premier League fixture that ended 0-0 at the weekend.

The 58-year-old tactician came in to help steady the sinking ship at the law enforcer, replacing Francis Baraza, who was fired. He has overseen five matches, winning his first match 1-0 against Nairobi City Stars before losing 1-0 against Sofapaka.

He then drew 1-1 against FC Talanta, lost 3-2 against Bandari, and then the 0-0 draw against K’Ogalo. Despite the mixed results, Logarusic, who has previously coached Gor and AFC Leopards in the Kenyan league, believes his team is getting better by the day and will be a force to reckon with in the near future.

“I am not a magician, I am just a coach, I can’t come with a magic wand and say, now we are ‘going to play’,” said Logarusic when queried about the team’s incontinency, adding: “If you look at the team’s display since I took charge, we are improving by game, and against Gor Mahia. Remember we were playing against the champions of the league, and I don’t think they dominated us.”

He continued: “For me, it was an equal game we had our chances to score but did not, Gor had their chances but did not score, and let us just focus on the next game. The league is always a marathon; there are many more games to play. Only eight to nine games played so far and there are 25 more games, anything can happen.”

Police are now sitting 12th on the 18-team table with 11 points from 10 matches. They have managed two wins, five draws, and suffered three defeats.

They will face Ulinzi Stars in their next league assignment on Friday at Police Sacco Stadium.
