Harambee Starlets’ provisional squad for WAFCON qualifier against Gambia named
By Faith Lagat, October 2, 2025The Harambee Starlets’ provisional squad for the two-legged 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Gambia has been named.
Head coach Beldine Odemba announced the squad on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Odemba has blended experienced players with fresh talent as the national women’s team prepares for the decisive fixtures. The first leg will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 6:00 pm at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, while the return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Stade Lat Dior in Thiès, Senegal.
Goalkeepers: Annedy Kundu (Kenya Police Bullets), Vivian Shiyonzo (Kibera Girls Soccer), Lilian Awuor (Farul Constanta, Turkey), and debutant Mercy Akoth (Vihiga Queens).
Defenders called up are Lorine Ilavonga (Ulinzi Starlets), Ruth Ingosi (Simba Queens), Dorcas Neema (Kibera Soccer Women), Tabitha Amoit (Ulinzi Starlets), Dorcas Shikobe (Sirens of Grevena, Greece), Norah Ann (Kenya Police Bullets), Enez Mango (Farul Constanta, Turkey), Leah Andiema (Kenya Police Bullets), Lavyne Ochola (Kayole Starlet), Janet Mumo (Kibera Soccer Women), Vivian Nasaka (Hakkarigucuspor), and Kikky Masika (Zetech Sparks).

Midfielders: Lydia Akoth (Yanga Princess), Medina Abubakar (Kenya Police Bullets), Corazone Aquino (Simba Queens), Diana Wacera (Kenya Police Bullets), Sheryl Angach (Ulinzi Starlets), Martha Amnyolet (Vihiga Queens), Elizabeth Muteshi (Trinity Starlets), Beverlyn Adika (Zetech Sparks), Keziah Ngaira (Ulinzi Starlets), Lavender Ann (Ulinzi Starlets), and Fasila Adhiambo (Ulinzi Starlets).
Forwards: Mwanalima Adam (HB Koge, Denmark), Charity Midewa (Palmhill Sports Club, Egypt), Tereza Engesha (Wuhan Giangda, China), and Violet Nanjala (United Eagles FC, Saudi Arabia). They are joined by Catherine Khaemba (Bungoma Queens), Diana Cherono (Vihiga Queens), Faith Mboya (Kibera Soccer Women), Tumaini Waliaula (Sirens of Grevena), Elizabeth Wambui (Simba Queens), Shirleen Opisa (Amus College, Uganda), and Nicoline Hawi Muteshi (Iron Ladies FC).
The team will report to camp on Sunday, October 5, 2025, to commence intensive training ahead of the fixtures. Odemba’s squad includes U20 graduates and top performers from domestic leagues, pointing to a deliberate effort to strengthen the squad for WAFCON 2026 qualification.
Kenya is seeking to secure a return to the continental showpiece, their last appearance having been in 2016.
