Gor Mahia squeeze past Bandari to win ODM@20 Tournament
Record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia rallied to beat Bandari FC 1-0 to win the ODM@20 Tournament at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Gor Mahia booked their position in the final after beating Shabana FC 4-3 in post-match penalties after playing to a 1-1 draw in the semi-finals on Thursday, October 9, 2025. On the other side, Bandari qualified for the final after edging AFC Leopards 4-3 in post-match shootouts as well, after playing to a barren draw at the same facility on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
In the Friday final, both teams aimed to walk away with Ksh1 million cash prize from the tournament sponsors, the Orange Democratic Movement party, as they mark their 20 years of existence.
The first half of the encounter had no major highlights, with Gor Mahia’s best chance coming in the 20th minute when forward Christopher Ochieng hit the post as both sides headed into the break goalless.

In the second half, Gor Mahia came guns blazing with their effort bearing fruit in the 69th minute when Ghanaian ace Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw broke the deadlock, scoring the only goal to help K’Ogalo edge the Dockers in their backyard on a sunny Friday afternoon.
After finishing runner-up in the competition, Bandari walked away with Ksh750,000. In the third-place playoffs played at the same venue earlier on Friday, October 10, 2025, Shabana FC beat AFC Leopards 1-0 to win Ksh500,000 while Leopards pocketed Ksh250,000 for finishing fourth at the tournament.
ODM@20 celebrations postponed
Meanwhile, in a statement shared on X on Sunday, September 14, 2025, ODM unveiled its preparations for a mega three-day celebration in Mombasa, promising a mix of politics, culture, and sports as part of the anniversary activities. The party has designed the events to attract leaders, supporters, and the wider public from across the country.
“Satisfied with the arrangements of the mega event that will be held in Mombasa City for three days. Activities will include a football tournament and the main celebrations to be hosted at the Mama Ngina Waterfront,” the party added.
Earlier, ODM announced the postponement of its 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, originally set for October 10–12, 2025. According to a press statement on Friday, October 3, the move aims to expand its outreach across more counties.
“Consequently, the final preparations and main event in Mombasa have been rescheduled to 14th to 16th November 2025,” the statement read in part.
“To date, the ODM@20 celebrations have been successfully hosted in Busia, Wajir, Kisii, and Narok counties. However, there remains a strong call from other regions across the country for us to extend this historic commemoration to their areas as well to enable those who cannot travel to Mombasa to be part of the fête,” the statement added.
After winning the ODM@20 Tournament, Gor Mahia will go head-to-head with Chungwa FC in a special exhibition match. Chungwa FC features a mix of ODM party players.
