Gor Mahia grateful after fans travelled to support K’Ogalo against Simba SC
Gor Mahia have thanked their supporters who travelled to Tanzania to cheer for the team during their pre-season friendly against Simba SC.
The Kenyan champions faced Tanzanian giants Simba SC on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The match was part of Simba’s annual Simba Day celebrations, postponed last month due to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
“We truly thank all our fans who made it to Tanzania; your efforts and sacrifice to stand with the team are well appreciated. Mahia fans win,” Gor Mahia wrote on their official X account.
The team lost 2-0, but the club said the fans’ support was important for morale during a tough game. Mohammed Hamza scored for Simba in the eighth minute, and Steven Mukwala added a second in the 55th minute after a defensive error by Gor Mahia.

Support
Head coach Charles Akonnor had described the fixture as a key pre-season test, helping to integrate new signings into the squad. Travelling with the team were Michael Kibwage, Lewis Bandi, Fidel Origa, and Ghanaian duo Ebenezer Adukwa and George Amonoo, along with mainstays such as Sylvester Owino, Philemon Otieno, and Austin Odhiambo.
Despite the result, the fans’ presence in the stadium gave the team a lift. Supporters waved flags, sang songs, and cheered every attack, showing loyalty even as the team fell behind.
Fan support is essential as they prepare for the FKF Premier League season. Michael Kibwage also expressed his delight after making his first appearance for Gor Mahia.
“Delighted to have made my debut for @OfficialGMFC in Tanzania last night. Plenty to pick from despite our defeat. Looking forward to building on from here,” Kibwage shared his thoughts on his X account, writing on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
As Gor Mahia returns to Kenya to continue pre-season preparations, the club promised to reward loyal fans with strong performances.
