Hundreds of Gor Mahia fans turned Kisumu into a sea of green and white as they marched through the lakeside city in memory of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the club’s longtime patron and one of its most passionate supporters.

The emotional march began at Kisumu Sports Ground on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, where fans from across the country gathered before beginning their symbolic journey to Kango Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, to pay their last respects at Raila’s gravesite.

The fans, waving flags and chanting club songs, show that the event was not just a show of loyalty to Gor Mahia but also a tribute to a man who stood by the team through every victory and defeat. Many have described Raila as more than a political leader, a supporter who embodied the spirit of football and unity.

Raila’s connection to Gor Mahia ran deep. Over the years, he stood with the club through financial challenges and shared in their triumphs. Just 12 days before his death, Friday, October 8, 2025, he had gifted the team Ksh10 million, a gesture fans now describe as his final show of love for the club he so dearly cherished.

For the supporters, this march was personal. It was a celebration of the man who never missed a chance to cheer them on and who often called Gor Mahia the pride of Kenya’s football.

As the crowd made its way through Kisumu’s streets, a reminder of how deeply Raila’s name is woven into the story of the team. The fans are expected to arrive in Bondo later in the day, where they will lay wreaths at his grave and hold a brief moment of silence in his honour.
