Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor has sounded the alarm ahead of his team’s clash against Murang’a Seal this Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Akonnor expressed admiration for the Muranga-based side’s style of play and tactical prowess that has seen the team record an unbeaten streak of 10 matches without testing defeat

He stressed the importance of a cautious approach in the game against a side he claimed will come out intent on dictating proceedings against the former champions.

Clever and compact

“We expect a tough match, and we have to manage our energies. We are coming to this game after another match, and we will have to be both compact and clever against them. We must ensure we do not allow them to play. If you allow them, they will push you back, so we have to be compact to not allow them to express themselves,” he said.

Akonnor, however, stated that his team had done his homework and will be ready for the opposition challenge.

“We have watched them a couple of times. This is a team that consistently wants to play. We have not seen much of this in the league, and it is commendable for their coach to recommend high standards,” he added.

Ahead of the clash, Gor Mahia, who failed to resume their place at the top of the log after Sunday’s draw to Shabana, have their work cut out against the Muranga-based side.

Under the guidance of former Harambee Stars midfielder Osborne Monday, Seal has turned a new leaf and is currently on the longest unbeaten run in the league.

The San Sebastien-based club made a huge statement of intent on Sunday with a 2-0 defeat of Mathare United, extending their fine form to double figures.

In other fixtures, defending champions Kenya Police Police FC will be out squaring against Mara Sugar at the Police Sacco starting at 2:00 pm local time.
