Former AFC Leopards keeper Edwin Mukolwe is among 11 players signed by Kakamega Homeboyz as the club embarks on a major overhaul of its playing unit ahead of the 2025 season.

Mukolwe, who was in the books of the relegated Nairobi City Stars, took to his Facebook page on Sunday, September 7, 2025, to confirm his new destination.

“Up and running. New beginnings are beautiful too. Straight to work,” he posted with training with the Kakamega-based club.

Odhiambo joins

His confirmation comes after the club confirmed him as one of the two additions in the goalkeeping department alongside Brian Odhiambo.

The latter joined from league rivals Kariobangi Sharks.

“We are pleased to confirm the signing of promising goalkeeper Brian Odhiambo. Odhiambo joins us from Kariobangi Sharks, bolstering our goalkeeping department as we gear up for the new season,” a statement from Homeboyz’s X page read on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Meanwhile, Joshua Nyatini has also opted for a stay in the top tier after trading the bankers for the Abana beingo.

Josphat Lopaga, who has had previous stints in the KPL with AFC Leopards and Post Rangers, has also been signed by the team. He joins after parting ways with the Belarusian side Dinamo Brest.

Another new acquisition includes Samuel Odaro. The striker, blessed with quick feet, joined the team from Mara Sugar.

Eugene Ochieng, formerly with National Super League side Kibera Black Stars, also joined the team after agreeing to a two-year contract. He played a pivotal role in their sixth-place finish last season, during which he registered 18 clean sheets and scored five goals over the course of the campaign.

Silas Abungana will also be contending to make his name in the team’s defensive unit after sealing a move from Gusii-based Gucha Stars.

On the offensive front, the Patrick Odhiambo-coached side has left nothing to chance in the quest for improvement, with major names joining the club ranks for the new season. The list is highlighted by Deriick Otanga.

Otanga signed

The 2021/22 FKF Premier League Golden Boot winner has linked up with his former coach Odhiambo after spending time with him at KCB FC, during his prolific spell in which he scored 40 league goals in his four-year stint with the club.

Congolese import Gideon Bendeka has also been shipped in a day after ending his association with FKF Premier League runners-up Gor Mahia.

Bendeka joins former teammate Rodgers Ouma, who has also found a new lease of life in the Kakamega-based team after parting ways with Gor.

The combative midfielder will bolster the midfield options.

On the outbound moves, Homeboyz lost Moses Shumah, who earned a move to Zambia’s Power Dynamos after clinching the 2024/25 FKF PL golden boot accolade.
