FKFPL: KCB beats Tusker to extend their unbeaten league run
KCB FC has extended their unbeaten run in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) after registering a 3-2 win over 12-time champions Tusker at St. Sebastian Park, Murang’a County on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Patrick Odhiambo’s charges’ win over Tusker extended their unbeaten streak to seven games setting their season off an impressive start.
KCB’s Francis Kahiro emerged as the match hero after bagging two quick goals. Kahiro, who was named man of the match, opened the scoring in the 12th minute before doubling his tally just a minute later sending a sizeable crowd into a frenzy.
The Brewers pulled one back through Ryan Ogam in the 38th minute.
However, the Bankers restored their two-goal advantage when James Kinyanjui found the back of the net in the 61st minute.

In the dying minutes of the game, Ogam converted a late penalty but the Brewers failed to capitalise on the late pressure to grab a point against Patrick Odhiambo-coached side.
The Bankers are yet to taste defeat despite playing against some bigger opponents in the league including Gor Mahia in the midweek encounter where they forced a barren draw, Ulinzi Stars among other decent sides early in the campaign.
KCB fought hard for the without the services of their first-choice goalkeeper Faruk Shikalo and winger Patrick Otieno who received national team call-ups ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against South Sudan.
Mathare whips Talanta
In an earlier FKFPL match, Mathare United secured their second win of the season after beating FC Talanta 2-0 at Dandora Stadium.
The win relieved pressure on coach John Kamau who suffered a 2-0 defeat in their previous match against Police FC.
Mathare’s goals were scored in the second half courtesy of Cetric Asango in the 49th minute and Elli Asieche in the 62nd minute.
Veteran midfielder Kevin Kimani was named man of the match for his assist and impressive shift for the Slum Boys in the middle of the park.
Sharks forces draw
In another match, Kariobangi Sharks forced a 1-1 draw against Shabana at the Dandora stadium. William Muluya’s side fiercely fought for the draw after suffering their first defeat of the season in the midweek game against Bidco United.
Shabana who fighting for their first win of the season broke the deadlock in the second half courtesy of Bryan Michira’s well-worked left-wing curve into the far right corner.
However, Sharks equalised after Tore Bobe Captain Onyango brought down midfielder Keith Imbali who converted from the spot sending Stephen Ochieng the wrong way.
Imbali who covered every blade of grass was crowned man of the match.
