FKF goes hard on 3 clubs over irregularities

Three clubs in various competitions have been penalised for irregularities by the Football Kenya Federation.
Marafiki FC, GEF 105, and Dynamo FC are the latest clubs to face penalties for going against matchday rules.
According to the FA, Marafiki FC were sanctioned in two rulings arising from their matchday conduct on March 23, 2025.
“In the fixture against Bumbani FC, the club was found to have fielded Samuel Sichenje Wattang’a under a misleading registration. Though listed as ‘Samuel Watiang’a,’ the player was already registered with Bungoma Stars FC and had not completed a valid transfer. The match was awarded to Bumbani FC on a 2-0, three-point basis. Wattang’a was suspended for 365 days for providing false registration data.
“In a related decision, Marafiki FC was found to have included Justin Okurumi, who was under suspension, among the substitutes in their match against Ruiru Hot Stars FC. The committee established that Okurumi was suspended for violent conduct in a previous match against Congo Boyz FC, a status that had been formally communicated to all clubs. The match was awarded to Ruiru Hot Stars FC on similar terms – 2-0 and three points,” FKF said.
Meanwhile, Dynamo FC were held responsible for failure to honour their match against Kenya Navy FC.
“Disciplinary action was also taken following the abandonment of FKF Division One match no. 183 between Kenya Navy FC and Dynamo FC, played on March 30, 2025, at the NYS Grounds in Mtongwe. The match was disrupted in the 82nd minute when Dynamo players assaulted the center referee.
“The committee held Dynamo FC accountable for the abandonment. The match result was awarded to Kenya Navy FC (2-0, three points), and players Godfrey Murugi, John Mkwiche, and Anthony Obinna were suspended for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. Kenya Navy FC was also prohibited from using NYS Grounds for the rest of the season due to inadequate matchday security,” FKF stated.
Double penalty for GFE 105
Finally, GFE 105 have been penalised for match irregularities.
“In Division One match no. 202 between GFE 105 FC and Zoo FC, scheduled for May 1, 2025, the committee deemed the match unplayed due to force majeure. The Kipchoge Keino Stadium had been rendered unavailable due to renovations communicated by Sports Kenya. While GFE 105 FC, the host club, attempted a late venue change to Eldoret Showgrounds, Zoo FC declined the short-notice relocation and appeared at the original venue. The committee ordered the match to be replayed, with each side covering its own costs.
“Separately, GFE 105 FC was penalized for failing to honour their fixture against Vegpro FC on 12th April 2025 (match no. 195). Despite a rescheduled kick-off time, GFE 105 FC arrived at the venue well past the deadline. The hosts and match officials had already vacated the grounds. The match was awarded to Vegpro FC (2-0, three points) on grounds of forfeiture,” the FA announced.
