FKF Cup: JW Foundation FC ready to take on big leagues

JW Foundation FC head coach Hamisi Mohamed, popularly known as coach Kaka, is exuding confidence ahead of his team’s historic debut in the 2025 FKF Mozzart Bet Cup this weekend.
The newly formed side makes its maiden appearance in the prestigious tournament against Kakamega Veterans FC in the FKF Cup round of 64, following Monday’s draw. Their opponents, like JW Foundation FC, also compete in the lower leagues.

Speaking to People Sport, the veteran tactician, who brings experience from Kenya’s junior national teams and international coaching stints, affirmed that his squad is well-prepared for the challenge, despite being together for just two months.
“The boys are ready. We have had good training sessions, and despite coming from different teams across Webuye West Constituency, they are adapting quickly. We know what is at stake, and we are going in with a winning mentality,” said coach Kaka.
Although JW Foundation FC is a new entrant in competitive football, it has been built on a solid foundation of young talent. The club recruited players from various local teams, creating a blend of skill and determination. Kaka believes this energy and hunger will give them an edge, especially after testing themselves against top Premier League and National Super League (NSL) sides in January friendlies.
Formed under the stewardship of philanthropist and Webuye West constituency MP hopeful Joseph Lendrix Waswa, JW Foundation FC has already faced high-profile teams such as Kariobangi Sharks, Kenya Police Bullets, KCB and Dimba Patriots in Nairobi, earning commendable results.
“It will be an entertaining match. Kakamega Veterans is also a good side with experience, but we have prepared well. We are here to show what JW Foundation FC is capable of,” added Kaka.
The Mozzart Bet Cup offers lower-league teams a golden opportunity to test themselves against established clubs in the later rounds. For JW Foundation FC, advancing past the round of 64 would be a significant statement in their debut season.
The clash against Kakamega Veterans FC promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams eager to make an impression.
As the tournament unfolds, all eyes will be on Coach Kaka, his assistants (led by coach Leonard Wamalwa) and his young squad to see if they can pull off a memorable cup run.
JW Foundation FC will be looking to mark their debut with a statement win as they begin their journey in the national knockout competition.
