Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohamed has applauded Kenya Police Bullets after the team stormed into the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers.

The team reached the semis following a convincing 2-0 victory over Eritrean champions DenDen FC at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, afternoon.

Goals from Emily Moranga and Uganda’s Zaina Namileme sealed the win for the Kenyan champions, who remain unbeaten in the tournament after edging Kampala Queens of Uganda 1-0 in their opening fixture last Thursday.

The result lifted Police Bullets to the top of Group A with six points, three ahead of Kampala Queens, while DenDen crashed out of the competition after two straight defeats, including a 7-0 thrashing by the Ugandan side in their first match.

Hussein Mohamed’s message

In his congratulatory message, the FKF boss lauded the team’s performance, praising their resilience and contribution to the growth of women’s football in Kenya.

“Great display from @policebullets today at Nyayo — a solid 2-0 win over Denden FC to book a place in the CECAFA/CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers semi-finals. Well done, ladies!” Mohamed wrote on X.

Kenya Police Bullets’ performance

The Bullets had opportunities to win by a larger margin, with Elizabeth Ochaka hitting the post in the 36th minute, while substitute Vidah Okeyo forced DenDen goalkeeper Sofanit Gebresilasie into a fine save in the 50th. DenDen’s best chance came in the 62nd minute when striker Rahwa Hans tested Police shot-stopper Annedy Kundu, who made a timely save.

The Kenyan champions will now face the winner of Group C, which features JKT Queens (Tanzania), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), and JKU Princess (Zanzibar).

The semi-finals are scheduled for September 14, while the final will be staged on September 16, preceded by the third-place playoff.

The CECAFA qualifiers, which run until September 11, feature nine league champions from across the region battling for one ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League finals in Egypt this November.
