Kenya Police Bullets FC defeat Kampala Queens in CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Q opener
Kenya Police Bullets FC made a perfect start to their CAF Women’s Champions League at the CECAFA Zone Qualifiers by beating Uganda’s Kampala Queens 1-0 in their Group A opener at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
The only goal came in the 46th minute when Emily Kemunto Moranga, who was introduced as a substitute, scored for the home side.
Before the match, Police Bullets had sounded the war bells. Coach Beldine Odemba expressed confidence in her team’s preparation, saying that playing at home was a major advantage.
“We are grateful to have our fans and families around,” Odemba said. She added that the team had trained intensely for six weeks.
Despite missing three first-team players due to injuries, Police Bullets looked sharp. New additions to the squad brought energy and depth. Odemba said the players were ready to give their best. She highlighted the importance of scoring early and defending well.
Team captain Annedy Kundu urged Kenyans to support the team. She said the players were representing not only the club but also the country. Fans were welcomed with free entry to the stadium, and many turned up to cheer.

Bullets lead group
The win gives Police Bullets an early advantage in Group A. They will now face Eritrea’s Denden FC as they aim to secure a place in the knockout stages.
Last year, Police Bullets reached the finals in Ethiopia but lost narrowly to Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. This year, they hope to go all the way.
The CECAFA Women’s Champions League brings together nine league champions from the region.
Other groups feature strong teams, including defending champions CBE, Top Girls Academy of Burundi, Rayon Sports WFC of Rwanda, JKT Queens from Tanzania, Yei Joint Stars from South Sudan, and Zanzibar’s JKU Princess.
