Kenya Police FC have enlisted the services of Timothy Oyanda Odhiambo, formerly of Coventry City.

The Europe-based player is among the two recruits to the law enforcers’ ranks ahead of a busy second half of the season.

The player has spent a good part of his career with development sides in Europe.

Coventry juniors

He was attached to the Coventry City U13 side in 2015. Besides Coventry, the midfielder has also had a stint with Paget Rangers between 2020 to 2022.

The player also featured for Darlaston Town FC, in 2022.

Burundian import

Oyanda joins David Irishura among the club’s latest acquisitions as confirmed by the club via X.

Irishura is a Burundian international and joins from Le Messager de Ngozi. He marked his Police bow in the 1-1 draw against Sofapaka.

According to the transfermarket data, Irishura has been capped twice with the Burundian national team after marking his debut in October 2024.

In Kenya, he will play under his compatriot coach Ettiene Ndayiragije. It’s the coach who handed the player his debit while at the age of 20 years and four months.

Irishura featured in the back-to-back defeats against Burkina Faso where Swallows suffered a 4-1 defeat and 2-0 in both clashes.

He is expected to fill the void left by another Police import in South Sudan Tito Okello who left the club in July 2024 for a stint abroad in Indonesia.

The coach’s arrival inspired a turn of fortunes and resurgence with Police remaining unbeaten in their last 10 games.

Other transfers

Another notable transfer has seen Gor Mahia release four players.

K’Ogalo who announced the arrival of coach Sinisa Mihic a week ago confirmed the departures of Dolph Owino, Juma Kevin, Musa Masika and Enock Wanyama.

Masika, who comes from a football family and sibling to Kenyan international, Ayub Timbe, highlighted the departures having failed to get going at Gor Mahia after joining from KCB a year ago.

The club acquisition includes Ben Stanley Omondi who has been part of the team’s preparation for the weekend clash against Mathare UInited on Thursday, February 6 2025.

Mathare United has also been busy on the transfer front after confirming four major releases.

The club added two more stars within its ranks with John Nyawir and Charles Oudu joining the club from Samwest Blackboots and Posta Rangers FC respectively.

The two players have a history with Gor Mahia having come through the team’s junior ranks before seeking out to try their chances.

Meanwhile, Police are currently perched at the top of the log albeit levelled on points with Tusker FC.

The two are scheduled to clash in Machakos County stadium in what promises to be an enthralling top-of-the-table clash.

The Saturday, February 8, 2025 showdown will start at 4:00 pm.
