Energy CS hails rally aces Sheghu, Ayuko after WRC heroic

Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has lauded rally driver Pauline Sheghu and her navigator Linet Ayuko for putting Kenya on the global motorsport map, following their string of podium finishes in the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally.
The duo, who also serve under the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, were hosted at Kawi House for a courtesy call during which they shared their motorsport journey and explored opportunities for further collaboration with the Ministry.
Between 2023 and 2024, Sheghu and Ayuko secured three podium finishes in the prestigious event, defying odds in a male-dominated sport.
“Pauline and Linet have proudly represented Kenya and our Ministry. Their achievements show exceptional courage and determination,” said Wandayi.
“They are part of us, and I am proud of them.”
Sheghu expressed gratitude for the recognition and said she was optimistic about deeper engagement with the Ministry. The pair continues to fly Kenya’s flag high both as professionals and sporting ambassadors.
