The water bottle belonging to Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal aka Gabaski – which had every Senegal player’s penalty-taking preferences on it – has been found after the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Gabaski looked at the water bottle before every spot-kick in the shootout and went the right way in all but one of the five penalties he faced, but it was not enough for victory in Cameroon.

Egypt goalkeeper had a water bottle with Senegal’s penalty preferences on it.

Gabaski went the right way for Kalidou Koulibaly’s penalty – and even got a hand to it – but couldn’t keep it out. He also correctly guessed the direction of PSG defender Abdou Diallo’s shot but was unable to reach it.

The goalkeeper then kept Egypt, who had seen Abdelmonem hit the post, in the contest by saving Bayern Munich defender Sarr’s shot.

Gabaski was then sent the wrong way by Senegal’s Bamba Dieng but Egypt’s Mohanad Lasheen missed his next spot-kick, leaving Mane to earn his country the trophy with the next penalty.
