DR Congo lines up crucial friendly ahead of Stars clash in CHAN opener
Harambee Stars Group A opponent in the upcoming African Nations Championship, DR Congo, has lined up a friendly clash against South Sudanese side, Jamus SC, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
According to the fixtures, the two-time CHAN champions will use the clash to further assess their team, with only five days to their opener against Kenya slated for Sunday, August 3, 2025.
The clash will pit the Leopards against two of the Kenyan personnel in the South Sudan team, defender Hannif Wesonga and coach Godfrey Oduor.
The team is in a preseason camp in Tanzania for the preparation for the upcoming CAF Champions League and the new season. As part of their preparations, the side roped in the services of former KCB and Harambee Stars defender, Wesonga.
Wesonga is expected to add more defensive mettle to the reigning South Sudan Premier League champions as they feature in the CAF continental games for the coming season.

The Morocco national team became the first side to land in Kenya on Monday, July 28, 2025, ahead of the 2024 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), setting the pace for the continental event, which kicks off this weekend.
The two-time CHAN winners touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi at 4:00 am on Monday and were warmly welcomed with a traditional East African reception, including music and cultural dancers.
The Atlas Lions have previously lifted the trophy in 2018 and 2021 and are now aiming to become the first nation to win the tournament three times.
“We are excited to be here and ready for CHAN. I already love Nairobi; the weather is great, and we are looking forward to a successful tournament,” said defender Marouane Louadni, who plays for Moroccan side AS FAR.
Morocco is another of Kenya’s opponents in Group A alongside Angola and Zambia.

They begin their campaign on Sunday against Angola at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
After the opening tie against the hosts, DR Congo will face off against Zambia in their second match before locking horns with Angola in their third clash.
The team will conclude the group encounters against North African giants Morocco.
