A final battle pitting KCB and Strathmore Leos is once again in the offing after the two elite rugby sides were spared an early clash in the Christie 7s semifinals pairing undertaken this Sunday, August 17, 2025.

As per the draw unveiled by the Kenya Rugby Union, KCB will face off against hosts Kenya Harlequins in the first match of the circuit semis as the university outfit battles it out against Nakuru’s Menengai Oilers.

Leos, who made it out of Pool A comprising hosts Kenya Harlequin, Zetech Oaks, and MSC Rugby, maintained their cruising feat in the third series of the rugby championship with a main cup quarterfinal 29-7 victory over Catholic Monks to storm the semifinal this Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi.

KCB advance

The clash marked a third consecutive semis appearance for the Willis Ojal side, who are the Prinsloo winners.

Meanwhile, Prinsloo finalist and Driftwood winner KCB whitewashed Day Star Falcons 27-0 to clinch the second semifinal spot of the edition held in the capital.

The lopsided encounter saw bankers prove too strong for the Falcons, who ranked among the surprise packages of the opening day, having beaten fancied Kabras Sugar in the group phases.

Denis Mwanja’s team came through from Group D, where they topped proceedings against Mwamba RFC, Nondescripts, and varsity outfit KU Blak Blad.

With the win, Bankers will next face an ice test against the host Harlequins, who survived a scare against Impala, edging the rivals 17-12 in the opening quarterfinal clash.

Victory for both KCB and Leos will see the Christie 7s stage serve a thrilling finale as the two teams renew their rivalry for the third time running in the ongoing series.

Strathmore Leos delivered a masterclass performance to retain the Prinsloo 7s title with a commanding 24-7 victory against KCB on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

The success followed after the Lions narrowly edged the scholars by the slimmest of margins in a 15-14 win in the previous weekend action of the Driftwood 7s final.
