The final selection of venues for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) is expected early next week as Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania intensify preparations to co-host the prestigious fiesta slated to take place from August 2-30, 2025.

The three East African neighbours, through their respective Sports Ministers, are set to conclude critical logistical talks with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as key playoff fixtures scheduled for August.

The announcement follows a high-level virtual meeting chaired by CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba.

Kenya’s Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya confirmed the country’s readiness, citing completed infrastructural work and a robust multi-agency support system.

“Our earmarked venues meet the required standards and are ready to support the extensive logistical operations needed for such a world-class event,” Mvurya said, assuring that Kenya is on track to deliver an exceptional tournament.

“We have brought together multidisciplinary teams within our organising committees to adhere to CAF’s guidelines, just as we successfully did during the CHAN draws. Kenya is committed to working closely with CAF to deliver a stellar and memorable tournament experience,” he added.

His Ugandan and Tanzanian counterparts, Peter Ogwang and Hamisi Mwinjuma, also reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to a seamless and unified CHAN experience.

The sports ministers lauded the spirit of regional collaboration that has defined the planning process.

What’s more, among the major proposals discussed is a “Pamoja Visa”.

This is a multiple-entry pass designed to ease cross-border travel for players, officials as well as fans, alongside plans for a coordinated regional security framework.

CAF’s secretary general stressed the urgency of finalising all venue and logistical arrangements to allow advance teams to hit the ground running.

“The confirmation of venues and logistics will enable our advance teams to commence on-the-ground preparations for the August championship. CAF is fully committed to supporting Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in turning this historic joint bid into a resounding success,” Mosengo-Omba stated.
