CAVB Volleyball Championship: Victory for KPA, GSU as Prisons fall short against Kepler

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Men’s Volleyball team on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, picked up their second win in the ongoing 2025 Men’s African Volleyball Club Championships in Misurata Libya.
KPA dominated the Congolese side Emmanuel VC in straight sets of 25–20, 25–19, 25–21 to claim their second win from four games in group D.
The victory puts the James Ontere-coached side third in the group on 7 points behind leaders Esperance of Tunisia(12 points) and Rwanda’s Army team, APR (8 points).
In other match, Kenya Prisons is staring at the danger of elimination after falling on the wrong end of an epic East African classic, losing 3-2 to Rwandese opponent Kepler in Pool C.
Prisons, hoping for a second win in the tie, kicked off on a dream note, taking the opening set in a 25- 23 score line.

Kepler responded in the second set winning 25-20 before a rejuvenated Prisons team picked the third set on a 25-21 margin.
Prisons, however, had their quest for comeback dashed in the fifth set after Kepler’s comeback fight sent the clash to the decisive round.
Danger of exit
The result stretched the team’s inconsistent show in the ongoing edition further.
Prisons, who opened their campaign on a 3-0 set loss to Cameroon’s Port Autonome De Douala (PAD) on Sunday, April 20, 2025, slumped to a 3-2 loss to Mauritius’ Orange Club on Tuesday.
The club has picked up only a single win from their opening four games.
Meanwhile, GSU’s impressive start to the championship continued as the paramilitary side edged out Uganda’s Nemo Stars 3-2.
The high-riding Kenyan representatives remain unbeaten with 4 wins in 4 ahead of a mouthwatering clash against Al Ahly club this Thursday.
The side will be hoping to dislodge the Egyptian from atop the group in the 9;30 Pom clash.
