Kenya’s representative, GSU, maintained its impressive run in the ongoing CAVB- Africa Men’s Volleyball Club Championships in Misurata Libya, with a 3-1 set win over Fath Union Sport (FUS) on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

The Kenyan side dug from deep to edge the Moroccans in a thrilling five-set game of Pool B.

The North Africans claimed the first set 25-18, before the Kenyans fought back for a 25-22 win in the following set.

The rivals cancelled each other out in the subsequent sets before GSU topped their rivals 16-14 in the decisive final set.

The victory stretched GSU’s resurgence in the championship, with the side now on three wins from the preliminary rounds.

The club on Monday, April 21, 2025, maintained their quest for the championship honours with a 3-1 win over Algeria’s CAS.

Meanwhile, a chastening campaign for other Kenyan representatives, Kenya Ports Authority, continued in the ongoing edition of the African Men’s Club Championship following a second defeat at the hands of Tunisian side Espérance in Pool D action.

The James Ontere-coached side was dispatched in straight sets, losing 17-25, 12-25, and 19-25 in the tie against the high-riding rivals from Tunisia.

Ports had also succumbed to defeat after coming just short in a thrilling 5-set game against APR of Rwanda on Sunday, April 20.


The club did reverse the tide, with skipper Dennis Omollo leading the charges to defeat Al Nasser Sports Club of Libya in three straight sets of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-10 on Monday to revive their hopes of staying afloat in the championship.


In pool C, Prisons’ poor showing in the ongoing games went from bad to worse following Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Mauritius’ Orange Club.


The Orange Club stunned Prisons who had soared to an identical 25-21 wins in the opening two sets, before a thrilling comeback saw them claim the final three sets.

The defeat marked a second loss for the 2024 silver medalist.

Prisons’ opened their campaign on a 3-0 set loss to Cameroon’s Port Autonome De Douala (PAD on Sunday, April 20, 2025. With their only win in the competition coming against Wolaita Dicha of Ethiopia.
