CAF CL: Kenya Police reveal determination to better continental record
Kenya Police FC head coach Etienne Ndayiragije has set the target of bettering their record in the CAF Champions League games ahead of the second leg meeting of the preliminary round of the continental qualifiers.
Speaking ahead of the match against Mogadishu CC this Sunday, September 28, 2025, the Burundian coach asserted that they will not be dwelling on the advantage gained from the first-leg victory.
Finishing the job
“We know we carry the advantage we have heading to the return leg clash, but we are focusing on finishing the job,” he stated.
“The task is to better our run from last time. As a technical bench and team, we want to be competitive. So expect a team that will come to fight and achieve its goals,” he stated.
Ahead of the clash, Police bid to better their record on the continental stage, having failed to advance past the first round in their CAF CC debut in the 2024/25 season.
Police continental run
Last time out under Salim Babu, the law enforcers were held to a 0-0 draw at home and lost 2-1 away to CBE SA, exiting with a 2-1 aggregate defeat in the first preliminary round.

They are, however, looking destined to make amends, albeit on the Champions League stage, where they carry a comfortable 3-1 first-leg win over Mogadishu City Club from Somalia.
Ndayiragije has expressed confidence that Police FC will adapt to the challenges of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round without any injuries in the team’s camp.
“We have a good and talented team with enough motivation. We need to put the Kenyan flag high. It is what we look to achieve in the games,” he stated.
“We have all players available and have no major misses, which we expect from the team,” he added.
Return leg
The two sides meet this Sunday, September 28, 2025, for the return leg clash at 4:00 pm.
The KPL champions will seek to replicate the feat achieved by their newbie counterparts, Nairobi United, who also advanced to the second round of the CAF games after edging NEC on away goal rules on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
