Axed Gor Mahia keeper lands at Murang’a Seals
Barely a fortnight after being axed at Gor Mahia FC, keeper Dolph Junior Owino has found a new home a Kenya Premier League side Muranga Seals.
The club has announced the arrival of the budding goalkeeper via a statement on its social media on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
The custodian was dropped by Gor with four others before the start of the league’s second-half run.
Limited chances
Dolph started his career at the Gor Mahia Youth FC before graduating to the team’s seniors. The custodian tasted his maiden top-flight silverware after K’Ogalo were crowned the league champions in the 2024 season.
He was however forced to contend with a bit-part role at the 21-time champions with experienced Gad Mathews and Kevin Omondi preferred.
The keeper is poised to fancy his chances with the prospect of competing against Morgan Ambuka at goal for a starting berth.
Owino is Seals’ second incoming player after Samuel Ndung’u. The former AFC Leopards and Muhoroni Youth winger joined the club on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Ndung’u signed
Ndung’u, who boasts extensive experience for his longevity in Kenya’s top-tier league, will attacking options that also have Joe Waithira Irungu and skipper Jeremiah Kiplangat.
He boasts a KPL Top Eight winners medal for his time with Muhoroni Youth as well as the FKF Cup winners he won in 2017 with AFC Leopards..
Seals, who play their home matches at San Sebastian Park in Murang’a county, have endured a mixed bag of results in the campaign, with their display in front of goal a sticking issue in their season’s inconsistencies.
The club is currently on a run of seven games without a victory, with six straight defeats at home.
The side is ranked 13th after a slight drop following a run of five five-game winless streak.
