Kenyan tennis star Angella Okutoyi has clinched her biggest title yet, the W50 doubles championship.

The victory, which she shared on her X account on Saturday, June 7, 2025, came alongside her partner, Rasheeda McAdoo, an American tennis player, whom she thanked for making the week unforgettable. Despite not competing in the singles event, Okutoyi’s joy was clear as she described the tournament as “really fun and amazing.”

“Thank you @cheetahsheeda14 for playing with me this week,” in a heartfelt post, Okutoyi expressed gratitude to her partner.

The win marks her seventh doubles title, a significant milestone in her career.

“It’s my second time here in Germany, and I really enjoyed every moment,” Okutoyi said, speaking about the tournament in Germany.

She praised the event’s organisers and her doubles partner, Rasheeda, for their support.

“Thanks Rasheeda for allowing me to play doubles with you, although I didn’t get into the singles,” she added.

The week, she said, was filled with fun and memorable moments, and she hopes to return for future tournaments.

Okutoyi’s rising star in global tennis

Okutoyi’s journey in tennis has been inspiring. As one of Kenya’s brightest talents, she has been steadily climbing the ranks, showcasing her skills on international stages.

Her W50 doubles triumph is a testament to her hard work and teamwork, qualities that have endeared her to fans. The tournament, held in Germany, gave her a chance to shine alongside Rasheeda, and their chemistry on the court clearly paid off.

Angella Okutoyi first made headlines in 2022 when she became the first Kenyan to win a Wimbledon title as she and Dutch partner Rose Marie Nijkamp won the girls’ doubles crown.

Since then, she has been steadily making progress on the ITF circuit, gaining valuable experience and improving her world rankings. The W50 category is part of the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour, featuring tournaments with prize money of $50,000, which attract competitive players aiming to boost their professional standings.
