Kenya’s football Technical Director Michael Amenga has been named to the powerful CAF Technical and Development Committee.

The committee which was first constituted in 2017, has 17 members and is tasked with making football policies in the continent. They analyse and evaluate the principal aspects of training, administration and technical development of football in Africa.

They also redefine the role and task of Technical Directors, review the content and organisation of the Coaching Licensing System, and review CAF Instructors amongst others. They also review partnerships with world football governing body Fifa and other Confederations such as European body UEFA and Asian body AFC.

Amenga a former national under 17 and under 23 coach becomes the first Kenyan to be named in the powerful committee where he is serving together with selected renowned football legends like South Africa’s Lucas Radebe, Uganda’s Edgar Watson, Cameroon’s Geremi Njitap and Togo’s Emmanuel Adebayo.

He took over as the country’s Technical Director from German Andre Spears and has taken at least 200 local coaches through CAF coaching courses in the last three years.
