Wetang’ula confirms burial date for Kamket’s son

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has called on Members of Parliament to stand in solidarity with William Kamket following the death of his son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr, who will be laid to rest on Monday, March 23, 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, March 20, 2026, the Speaker said he had joined the family of Kamket and Immaculate Kassait in mourning the sudden loss, describing it as a deeply painful moment for the family and their loved ones.

Wetang’ula noted that the loss of a young life is especially devastating and urged leaders to come together to support the bereaved family during this difficult period.

He appealed to MPs to attend the burial and offer comfort to their colleague as he prepares to lay his son to rest.

“Today, I joined the family of Hon. William Kamket and Immaculate Kassait in mourning the sudden passing of their son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr. In sharing in the pain of the loss, I reminded the family to draw strength from the Lord to ease the pain and help them come to terms with his passing,” Wetang’ula said.

Appeal to MPs

Wetangula took to his account to appeal to Members of Parliament to attend the burial and offer comfort to their colleague as he prepares to lay his son to rest.

The Speaker offered prayers for the departed and expressed hope that the family would find spiritual comfort in the wake of the tragedy.

“Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him,” Wetang’ula said.

In his tribute, Ruto said it was deeply painful to lose a young life filled with promise and potential. He also promised to stand with the deceased’s family during the mourning period.

“We extend our sincere condolences to Tiaty Member of Parliament Hon. William Kamket and his family following the loss of their beloved son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr. “It is deeply painful to lose a young life filled with promise and potential. We stand with you and support you during this difficult time. Rest in Peace, Bill. Mutyo is missing,” Ruto stated.
