Tiaty Member of Parliament (MP) William Kamket has lost his 13-year-old son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr.

President William Ruto, in a statement shared via his official X account on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, sent his condolences to the family.

In his tribute, Ruto said it was deeply painful to lose a young life filled with promise and potential. He also promised to stand with the deceased’s family during the mourning period.

“We extend our sincere condolences to Tiaty Member of Parliament Hon. William Kamket and his family following the loss of their beloved son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr,” Ruto stated.

“It is deeply painful to lose a young life filled with promise and potential. We stand with you and support you during this difficult time. Rest in Peace, Bill. Mutyo missing.”

The circumstances under which he passed away, however, remain unknown.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has also extended his condolences to the family of Kamket.

“The pain of losing a child is beyond words, and what any parent should ever have to endure. I extend my deepest condolences to Tiaty MP Hon. William Kamket, Data Protection Commissioner Immaculate Kassait, and the entire family on the painful loss of their beloved son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr. May the Almighty God grant you the fortitude to bear this great loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you prepare to lay Bill Ballot to rest,” Murkomen wrote on X.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party digital strategist Antonellah Kakuko also relayed her condolences to Kenya’s first Data Commissioner, Immaculate Kassait, who is the wife of Kamket.

In a statement shared via her official Facebook account, she wished the family the strength, comfort, and peace to endure what she described as a painful loss.

“We leave it all to You, Dear Lord. Go well, Bill Junior Ballot. Your light will forever remain in our hearts. May the Almighty Father grant my brother-in-law, Hon. William Kamket (MP, Tiaty), and his wife, Immaculate Kassait (Data Commissioner), the strength, comfort, and peace to endure this painful loss. May they find grace to mourn their beloved son, and courage to carry on in his memory. Mutyo Nyomaan Pikocho,” she stated.

Kamket was first elected as Tiaty MP in 2004 on a KANU ticket, where he served in the National Assembly until 2007, and later made a comeback in 2017, where he has served to date.

He also served as the Speaker of Baringo County Assembly between 2013 and 2017, and has in recent months emerged as one of the fiercest defenders of President William Ruto’s administration.
