Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi has called on Kenyans to embrace peace and use their words and actions to uplift one another, grounding his message in scripture.

In a Sunday message posted on his X account on August 24, 2025, Wanyonyi cited Romans 14:19, which emphasises the importance of pursuing peace and mutual edification.

“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification,” he wrote.

The legislator went on to pray that Kenyans would embrace actions that uplift others and use their words and actions as tools for spreading goodwill and harmony.

“May God use our words and actions to build others up, spread peace, and cause His favour to abound in every heart. Wishing you all a Happy Sunday,” the legislator added.

Prioritising public participation

Wanyonyi’s call for peace comes just days after he outlined his plan to prioritise public participation and inclusivity if elected to the Bungoma gubernatorial seat in the upcoming election.

Speaking at a gathering in Bukembe, Bungoma County, on Monday, August 11, 2025, Wanyonyi emphasised that leadership must be guided by the voices and needs of the people, rather than top-down decision-making.

He noted that county residents should have the opportunity to express their views and priorities, and his leadership would ensure their input shapes government action.

“Because if I don’t listen to you, what am I doing? I cannot just come here and dictate what you need without hearing from you. You need to express yourselves, and that is exactly what we will do,” Wanyonyi said.

He emphasised that his vision for Bungoma County is rooted in open engagement, equitable representation, and an inclusive approach, stating that, if elected, his administration would prioritise public participation as the first goal and inclusivity as the second.

“As the leader of Bungoma County, I will prioritise several key areas. The first is public participation, and the second is inclusivity. I don’t want to hear anyone in Bungoma saying we are marginalised,” he concluded.
