Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke has urged Bungoma residents to rally behind Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, who is seeking the Bungoma gubernatorial seat in 2027.

Speaking in Tongaren during a fundraiser attended alongside Wanyonyi on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Waluke told residents that in his Sirisia constituency, the decision has already been made to support Wanyonyi’s bid.

He stated that in Sirisia, the race would be a done deal for the Westlands MP, adding that he would pass unopposed and would not even need to campaign in the area. Waluke called on other regions of the county to follow the same path.

“Sisi kama sirisia tumeamua Tim Wanyonyi, hatacampaign sirisia, tumemaliza kura yake; akataenda unopposed, natunataka watu wote waige hio mfano,” Waluke said.

The Sirisia MP expressed confidence in Wanyonyi’s leadership, citing development projects implemented in the Westlands constituency.

He said Wanyonyi’s record as a three-term MP in Nairobi was proof of his capability and expressed belief that he would deliver the same results in Bungoma.

Waluke added that Wanyonyi could have contested the Nairobi governorship and won but noted that it was time for him to return to his home county and take up leadership.

He further criticised the state of the Bungoma County government despite it receiving lots of funds since the inception of devolution, but the county had lagged behind in development, and he accused the county of rampant theft.

He emphasised it’s high time they elect a leader who will change this, and according to him, it’s Tim who will do so

County yetu imeumia imeuimia kwa kukosa maendeleo, ndio maana vijana wetu hawana kazi wanaangaika, na ndio maana tumeleta maneja ambaye anakuja ku manage pesa zetu hapa; ukienda county yetu kila mtu anacompete kuiba,” Waluke said.

Waluke concluded by appealing to the congregation to help popularise Wanyonyi’s agenda across the county and ensure that his message reaches every corner.
