Weatherman warns of heavy rainfall across several regions this week
The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather advisory warning of heavy rainfall across several parts of the country between October 14 and October 20, 2025.
In the update shared on their official X account on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the weatherman noted that rainfall is expected over the Central Highlands, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Coast, as well as Western, North-western, and North-eastern Kenya.
The department said the expected rainfall will vary in intensity across regions, urging residents in flood-prone areas to remain alert and take precautionary measures. The advisory also noted that the rainfall pattern will bring relief to dry regions, especially those that have been experiencing long dry spells.

Sharp temperature contrasts expected
The Met Department also cautioned that daytime temperatures above 30°C are likely to be experienced in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions, while night-time temperatures below 10°C may occur in the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
This variation, the department said, could affect crop and livestock production, calling for preparedness among farmers. The weatherman also encouraged Kenyans to keep warm in areas where low night temperatures are expected, especially for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.

In its review of the previous week, covering October 6 to 12, 2025, the department reported that rainfall was recorded in several counties. “Rainfall was recorded in several counties, including Kiambu, Nyeri, Kisii, Murang’a, and Kakamega,” The statement reads
