Westlands Member of Parliament Timothy Wanyonyi has retained his seat after flooring his close competitor Nelson Havi of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The constituency had ten candidates contesting for the seat on both political parties and independent tickets.

Wanyonyi who trounced his opponents in all the 242 polling stations won with a landslide after he garnered 58,408 votes. Havi emerged second after scooping 19,550 votes.

Speaking after being declared the MP-elect, Wanyonyi expressed gratitude towards the people of Westlands for re-electing, promising to deliver more.

“I want to thank Westlands constituents for re-electing me. I am very grateful for the belief they have in me. I will work like I have in the past and deliver as I promised,” Wanyonyi stated.

He also expressed confidence in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for delivering a free and fair election.

At the ward levels in the Sub-County, Mountain View ward incumbent Member of County Assembly (MCA) Onyango Maurice Ochieng retained the seat.

Kangemi Ward elected Maleya Hamisi while Kitsuru retained Alvin Orlando Palapala as their MCA.

Elsewhere, Parklands-High ridge ward elected Stephen Gitau while Karura ward elected Kamau Thuo.

Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition clinched 45 seats while Kenya Kwanza coalition scooped 36.
