Wajackoya pays condolence visit to Raila Odinga’s Opoda Farm
Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, visited the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Opoda Farm in Bondo to pay his respects and celebrate the life of the veteran statesman.
In a statement posted on his socials after the visit, Wajackoyah reflected on Raila’s lifelong dedication to justice, describing him as a leader whose courage, resilience, and sacrifices reshaped Kenya’s political landscape.
He highlighted Raila’s key role in the implementation of Vision 2030 alongside the late President Mwai Kibaki, noting that the partnership laid a strong foundation for economic growth, increased investment, and improved governance.
Wajackoyah has also acknowledged Raila’s central role in pushing for the 2010 Constitution, saying that the document will continue to protect the democratic rights that the late fought for throughout his political life, even in his demise.

Wajackoya also took the moment to share a deeply personal story that connected him to the Odinga family.
He revealed that the Jaramogi family played a critical role during one of the most dangerous chapters of his life: the period surrounding the investigations into the late Robert Ouko’s murder.
He narrated that at that point, threats, torture, and attempts to eliminate him were intensifying, and the Odinga family stepped in to help.
Role played by Raila
He said Mama Ida Odinga was sent to verify his identity shortly before the family facilitated his escape from imminent danger. He credited their courage and humanity with saving his life, saying he remains forever grateful for their intervention.
“The Jaramogi family played a profound and unforgettable role during one of the darkest chapters of my life. When threats, torture, and calls for my elimination surfaced after I uncovered critical evidence concerning the late Dr Robert Ouko’s case, they stood courageously in the gap,” Wajackoya stated.
, Wajackoya continued to emphasise that Raila’s legacy goes beyond politics. He described Raila as a statesman whose life awakened a nation and whose struggle for a better Kenya will continue to inspire generations.

Wajackoyah laid a wreath on Raila’s grave in Kang’o ka Jaramogi before proceeding to Opoda Farm to condole with Mama Ida Odinga.
These come the first time he is visiting the home of Raila Odinga to pay a visit; he has paid the visit on the heels of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who stormed the home to pay his condolence visit.
