City lawyer Wahome Thuku has responded to critics who have repeatedly accused him of working for President William Ruto, dismissing the allegations as outdated and misplaced.

Through a post on his Facebook account on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Wahome addressed individuals who often told him to “go and work for Ruto”, saying the insults no longer carry weight and reflect how political narratives have shifted.

“‘Enda kwa Kasongo’ or ‘umenunuliwa na Kasongo’ was a very bad insult a year ago. Especially to those of us who never voted for him. Not anymore. You look at the person telling you that, and you shake your head,” Wahome wrote.

Kasongo label outdated

The outspoken lawyer went further to argue that even the nickname “Kasongo”, commonly used by critics of the President, is now outdated. According to Wahome, the political language has evolved.

“Actually, Kasongo is an outdated name; we are now calling him Singapoor,” he stated.

All the same, the name “Singapore” is linked to President Ruto’s stated ambition of transforming Kenya into the Singapore of Africa through modern infrastructure development and long-term poverty reduction.

Kiambu church politics fallout

In a separate post, Wahome also weighed in on the political tensions witnessed in Kiambu County over the weekend during a church service attended by President Ruto in Gatundu North.

The event was marked by shouting matches among attendees and sharp exchanges involving Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia and Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a, who were advocating for Ruto’s re-election in 2027.

Referencing the incident, Wahome claimed that law enforcement agencies had launched investigations following the reception leaders received at the event.

“POLICE in Kiambu are investigating the reasons why Governor Kimani Wamatangi was cheered more than Kururia and that other Thika woman on Sunday at a church service attended by President William Ruto in Gatundu North,” Wahome wrote.

He further alleged that the DCI had summoned a female county employee to record a statement and held for several hours due to the incident.

Wahome’s remarks have since sparked debate online, with many interpreting them as sharp political sarcasm amid rising political temperatures in Kiambu County ahead of the 2027 General Election.
