The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has commenced the nomination process for aspirants vying for the party ticket in the next Ol Kalou Constituency by-election in Nyandarua County.

The party, in a nomination notice dated April 26, 2026, said the nomination will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, following the declaration of a vacancy in the office of Member of the National Assembly for Ol Kalou Constituency. Aspirants have been asked to apply for nomination via the UDA party portal.

Notice is hereby given that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party nominations shall be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for nomination by registering through the UDA party portal accessible at www.uda.ke. The registration period will commence on Monday, April 27, 2026, and close on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 5.00 pm,” UDA noted in its statement.

The portal will be open for registration from Monday, April 27, 2026, until Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 5:00 pm. The party has instructed all candidates to first register with the UDA portal, and the system will automatically prompt them for the nomination fee payment via M-Pesa STK Push.

UDA added that the registration will be deemed complete when both the registration and payment are successfully done through the portal.

In the announcement, the party also reminded public officers who are interested in the by-election that they must resign from their public positions on or before April 30, 2026.

Nomination fees have been fixed at Ksh250,000 for those who apply in general and Ksh125,000 for women, youth and persons with disabilities. The fees are non-refundable, the party said.

Call for by-elections

The call for registration for nomination by the UDA party follows the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announcement that a by-election for the Olkalou Constituency Member of the National Assembly seat in Nyandarua County will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

In a notice issued to the public on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the electoral body confirmed that preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and credible exercise, with voters expected to head to the polls to elect their new representative in the National Assembly.
