Reactions to Majanja’s death
Several leaders are expected to send their condolences following the passing of High Court Judge David Majanja.
Majanja’s family is also expected to speak on his death, share final moments and disclose his last wishes.
The judge of the High Court was confirmed dead by Chief Justice Martha Koome late at night on Wednesday July 10, 2024.
“On behalf of the Judiciary and the Judicial Service Commission, it is with profound sadness that I announce the sudden passing of Hon. Justice David Amilcar Shikomera Majanja, Judge of the High Court of Kenya and Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission. We are all heartbroken.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Judiciary and JSC fraternity during this time of deep sorrow and sadness,” Koome’s message read in part.
Power interruptions
Six counties are expected to experience power on Thursday July 11, 2024. The six counties are Nairobi, Kajiado, Nyeri, Embu, Kiambu and Kilifi.
Areas set to be affected by the planned power maintenance include the United Nations (UN), Gigiri, UN Avenue, and UN Crescent.
In Kajiado County the areas which will be affected include Loitokitok Town, Kimana Town, Amboseli, Imbirikani, Rombo, Njukini, Customs, Ilitilal, Murtot, Ichalai Risa, Sultan Hamud, Pipeline, Kibini Quarry, Mashuru, Ngatu, Emaroro and adjacent customers.
In Nyeri County, areas which will be affected by the power shutdown include Birithia Girls, Mwanda TBC, Mahiga C/Fact, Kenyatta Mahiga High School, Kagere Market and Gachami Market.
In Embu County, KRA Offices, Majengo Chief’s Camp, Racy Garage, County Secondary and Primary Schools, Shell Petrol Station and adjacent customers will be affected.
Takataka Solutions, Kawamwaki Farm, Nazareth Hospital, Utee Farm, Brook Hill School, Eldo Farm, Utungi, Jomalis and adjacent customers will be affected by the power outage which will run from 9.00 am – 5.00 pm will experience the outage in Kiambu County.
Reactions to proposed national dialogue
Other than power, various leaders are expected to issue political statements on the planned multi-sectoral dialogue forum slated for Monday July 15, 2024.
Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga already noted that he has listened to people’s concerns over a handshake insisting that their message is home.
