Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a has revealed that Sh68 million had been set aside to facilitate renovation of dilapidated schools in the constituency.
Some schools, she said, will be upgraded following an outcry by both learners and parents whose institutions have been rundown for decades.
Speaking at Powerline Primary School where she commissioned construction of classrooms at a cost of Sh14.124 million, the MP decried the poor state of some public learning institutions.
She noted that some schools lack very basic infrastructure such as classrooms and sanitary facilities. Ng’ang’a revealed that the institutions will undergo an infrastructure overhaul and called for cooperation between her office and parents.
“Some of the institutions here are in a very bad state and we have an obligation to motivate the learners by giving them a good learning environment. We have a duty, irrespective of scarcity of resources, to give them best,” she said.
