Support Ruto’s growth agenda, Nyoro, Ikana urge Kenyans
Leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza administration have urged Kenyans to support President William Ruto’s development agenda which they termed as revolutionary.
Led by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, the leaders said the livelihoods of many ordinary Kenyans had started to improve courtesy of economic reforms initiated by Pres-ident Ruto in line with the bottom-up economic transformation agenda.
They, however, urged county governments and elected Members of the National Assembly to eliminate wastage and corruption and ensure prudent utilisation of funds al-located to their respective devolved units. “President Ruto inherited virtually empty coffers and had to institute a raft of radical economic measures to save the country from sinking. These painful policies have started to pay off,” added Nyoro who chairs the Budget Committee in the National Assembly.
Mobilised leaders
The sentiments were echoed by Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana who, particularly, hailed the recent increase in NG-CDF funds to constituencies.
“We understand that the radical policy measures were painful in the beginning but they have started bearing fruits as the country can now finance its development pro-grammes without having to beg,” he added.
The duo was speaking at St. Agnes Shibuye Girls High School in Shinyalu during the constituency’s Education Day on Friday.
Nyoro and Ikana mobilised fellow leaders present to raise a total of Sh15 million in a record 30 minutes. A total of Sh10 million was then handed over to the hosts to put up a modern multipurpose dining hall while another Sh5 million was gifted to the neighbouring St Gerald Shanjero Secondary School for construction of a state-of-the-art laboratory.
