State roots for regional tourism, combines two events

Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage has combined this year’s Magical Kenya Travel Expo and the East Africa Regional Tourism Expo (EARTE), as the country’s roots for regional tourism.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza (pictured) said integrating the two events will enhance Kenya’s and the region’s visibility, forge partnerships and enhance investments in the hospitality, travel, and tourism sectors that are fast recovering from the economic shocks of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This year, we shall be integrating the Magical Kenya Tourism Expo and the East African Regional Tourism Expo seamlessly, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to unity and a shared vision within the East African Community,” she said.

During the period, Kenya will host regional tourism stakeholders and players in the sector, with the events providing a platform for the travel trade in the region to showcase and network with the world.

Tourism flow

Malonza was speaking yesterday when she unveiled the 3rd edition of Magical Kenya Tourism Expo. The two events will be held between November 20 and 22.  The CS was accompanied by the Tourism Principal Secretary John Olotuaa and his East Africa Community partner Abdi Dubat, as well as the Kenya Tourism Board acting CEO John Chirchir.

Olotuaa said hosting of the two epos is a genuine manifestation of our commitment to promote intra-regional tourism flow across our borders. We are confident that this platform will provide opportunities for consolidation of relations among our partners across Africa, Europe and beyond.
