South Sudan on Monday reported two COVID-19 recoveries, the country’s first time after confirming the first case nearly a month ago.

Makur Matur Koriom, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, said a male patient was discharged from hospital in the capital Juba, and a female was discharged in the southeastern town of Torit, the Health Ministry said.

Koriom noted that the recovered patients were cases number three and four respectively, adding that 47 COVID-19 patients are still receiving treatment in various health facilities across the country.

He warned the public against stigmatizing COVID-19 patients and health workers treating them.

South Sudan reported its first case on April 5 and the number of cases has since risen to 49 with no deaths. (Xinhua)
