Six dead as police record increased crimes of passion

At least six people have been killed and two others seriously injured by their lovers in separate incidents in the last five days.
The lovers were aged between 19 and 31 and most of the victims were stabbed, according to police reports. The reasons for the attack included allegations of infidelity and coming home late. One of the victims was stabbed to death by her former boyfriend.
On Sunday morning, Alvin Khaemba, 19, was stabbed to death by her girlfriend following a quarrel as a result of allegations of unfaithfulness in Gichagi, Kangemi.
Police officers who rushed to the scene found the deceased lying in a pool of blood from the left side of the chest. It was established that the deceased as staying with his girlfriend Trizah Chemtai for about three weeks.
The two quarreled after she accused him of infidelity. The woman then picked a knife and stabbed him. He bled to death inside his house.
In another case on Sunday at around 6.30am, Mike Gakima, 23, was also stabbed and seriously injured by his girlfriend Ida Ndunge, also aged 23 in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi.
Police said the man was stabbed on the right shoulder, neck and back before he was rescued by the neighbours who responded to his screams.
The suspect was arrested by members of the public who escorted her to Shauri Moyo Police Station. The victim was rushed to MSF for first aid and later transferred to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in a serious condition.
On Thursday last week, Caren Auma 23 was also killed by her husband Stephen Oduori at their home in Igigo village, Bunyala, Busia county.
The deceased, a mother of two, had visited her relatives in Uganda and had overstayed, annoying her husband. The husband attacked her when she came back, killing her on the spot.
The same day in Naiberi, Eldoret East, Geoffrey Kiplagat Chirchir, 31 killed his former girlfriend Naomi Jepkemoi, 30 by stabbing her several times on the chest using a kitchen knife.
Police officers rushed to the scene and managed to arrest the suspect and recover the murder weapon. The body was moved to Plateau Mission Hospital.
Elsewhere an autopsy will be conducted on the body of South Sudanese politician Agnes Kwanje Lasuba, 76 who died in her Nairobi residence on Sunday. The deceased body was transferred to the Lee Funeral Home.
She has been in the country since June 10 and was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. Lasuba was an active member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) between 1998 and 2003 while still living in the UK.
